Italy – Risotto

Risotto is an Italian classis dish which is basically rice cooked in broth until it reaches a creamy state. Risotto with all its simple and less ingredients looks like a piece of cake but in reality it is one of the most difficult dishes to get right. Many people have tried to get it right the first time but only a few have succeeded. That is why it is named “DEATH DISH”. I highly recommend it to everyone who visits Italy, try it there where it was created because that original taste cannot be replicated anywhere else.

In other countries this dish is the same but its name is different. Like in Greece it is called kataifi and in Turkey it is called kadayif. It is said that in Fatimid Egypt the doctors prescribed this dish to Caliphates to satisfy their hunger during Ramadan. It was not until the 13th century something quite like this dish appeared as in the book Kitab al tabikh fi-l-Maghrib a dish like kunafa appeared.

Filipino – Tuna Kinilaw

Kinilaw is an Filipino seafood dish which means “eaten raw”. By lookin at the name we can clearly see that this dish is meant to be eaten raw as most of the seafood in the Philippines is eaten raw. Tuna Kinilaw is a version of Kinilaw in which tuna is cut into cubes and then marinated. Kinilaw was originated in the Philippines and the cutting process used in this dish goes way back thousands of years.

Madagascar – Mofo Gasy

Mofo gasy is the Malagasy pancakes made of rice. They are mostly cooked along the streets and sold at very cheap price. The restaurants ones, they are not that cheap either.
