Egypt – Knafeh

Knafeh is an traditional Middle Eastern dessert and an delight of Egypt. It is one of the best desserts which you can eat in Egypt and also it is very popular in Levant. In other countries this dish is the same but its name is different. Like in Greece it is called kataifi and in Turkey it is called kadayif. It is said that in Fatimid Egypt the doctors prescribed this dish to Caliphates to satisfy their hunger during Ramadan. It was not until the 13th century something quite like this dish appeared as in the book Kitab al tabikh fi-l-Maghrib a dish like kunafa appeared.

Egypt – Fattah

This is an Egyptian dish that is always celebrated, especially during Eid al-Adha when the lamb boards remind us of it. In Arabic, the word “Fattah” means “particle”. The Fattah is also the Lebanese breakfast king.

Shakshouka is the best and most famous breakfast which consists of poached eggs. This is a very healthy breakfast of Egypt. Shakshouka is a popular dish from the Middle East and North Africa to the Ottoman Empire. The meaning of SHAKSHOUKA is “haphazard mixture” and this word comes from the ARABIC LANGUAGE. There are different varieties of recipes to make SHAKSHOUKA in different countries. This dish start in the era of OTTOMAN. They called this dish saksuka.

Egypt – Mahshi

Mahishi is a vegetable dish cooked with tomatoes and cumin, a soup filled with roasted meat and rice. Mahshi is an Egyptian holiday center where friends and family gather for Iftar on Sundays, especially during Ramadan. The Maheshi was one of the many ships of the Ottoman Empire that stretched from the Balkans to Lamont in Egypt during the ancient Empire. The dish was found in rice and/or meat or cabbage leaves in the Ottoman Empire.

Egypt – Hawawshi

This dish, actually a street food, depends upon the filling of meat which is filled in a pita. This is called “PITA POCKET”. Its filling is just like qeema or kofta which is stuffed in pita pockets. It is one of the most popular Egyptian dishes because it is simple, tasty, and frozen. This dish is made by the butcher who named as Ahmed al-Hawawshi.

Ful medames is the Levantine salad made up of fava beans and raw vegetables. Ful medames is eaten in Arabic countries, Asia, Middle Eastern, and North African. This salad is the most ancient dish of Egyptian cuisine. There are many varieties of the dish around the world.

Egypt – Umm Ali

Umm Ali is one of the most famous desserts of Egypt. In every country, this dish is famous not because of its name, just because of its taste as well. This is like a puff pastry which is made with pudding and cake. This dessert is started in the 12th century in EGYPT. The meaning of this dish is ” Ali’s Mother “. Actually, she was the wife of the Egyptian ruler.
