Pakistan – Traditional Charsi Tikka with Butter Naan

Introduction
Charsi tikka is one the unique most famous and yummy tikka in Pakistan. Tikka is small chunks of meat you can use any meat like chicken, mutton, beef etc. The most famous place to eat charsi tikka is namak mandi, Lahore. This market if full of yummy and different types of tikkas but charsi tikka is the best. The smoky, spicy, buttery flavor people love. You can serve this as a snack with different types of dip. Charsi tikka are usually made on tandoors. To make this yummy dish you have to marinate the chicken with different types of spices like red chili, turmeric, coriander, salt, cardamom, cumin, bay leaves etc. When the chicken is marinated put this little chunks on skewers and roast them.
While cooking butter,oil or ghee brushes over the chunks to give it a golden brown color. The chicken has a moist and crispy texture which make it more special. This dish can be eaten with roti, bread naan etc. But some people like butter naan to eat with the charsi tikka. Butter naan is a flat bread garnish with butter, green coriander etc. No dish is complete without a naan. The crispy spicy tikkas and soft butter naan is the best combination.
Ingredients for making charsi tikka
- chicken chunks 2 kg
- garlic paste 1/2 tbsp
- ginger paste 1 tbsp
- lemon juice 4 tbsp
- yogurt 1 cup
- garam masala 1 tsp
- coriander 2 tbsp
- turmeric 1tsp
- red chili powder 3 tbsp
- green chili 4 (chopped)
- black pepper1 tbsp
- salt 2 tbsp
Method of cooking
Step 1
Take a bowl and add chicken chunks, salt, black pepper, red chili, turmeric, coriander, yogurt and lemon juice and mix well.Keep it aside.
Step 2
Take a pan and add green chili,ginger paste, garlic paste and turn the flame medium.Saute it for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.Now add the roasted masala in the chicken bowl and mix well.Now cover it and keep it aside over night.
Step 3
Now take a steel skewer and put 5 to 8 chunks of chicken on the skewer and grill on a coal grill until cook and golden brown.Transfer it on a plate and garnish it with some lemon juice and green coriander.
Ingredients for making butter naan
- plain flour 2 cup
- what flour 4 tbsp
- butter 5 tbsp
- water as required
- baking soda 1 tsp
Method of making
Step 1
Take a large bowl and add plain flour, wheat flour, butter and baking soda and mix well.Now add water and mix until the dough is formed.
Step 2
now take a small piece of dough and roll it with a rolling pin.Now take a pan turn the flame medium now put the naan on the pan and toast on both sides.Naan is ready.
