United Arab Emirates – Kibbeh

This is like a unique concept of Croquettes of Middle East Cuisine. It is considered as national dish of SYRIA and LEBANON. This dish has four main components, that add up together and form a nice dish. This word is derived from Classic Arabic Word KUBBAH, which means ball or dome.

Lebanon, United Arab Emirates – Za’atar Manakeesh

Manakeesh is a flat crispy bread topped with different seasonings and served with different sauces and vegetables. It is like a pizza but in Arabian style. It is eaten in breakfast and also be served as a snack and even in lunch and dinners. In Lebanon, Za’atar is the must for Manakeesh. This dish, Manakeesh is originated from Lebanon but now it is famous all over the Middles East. The word Manakeesh is the Arabic word Manqushah. MANQUSHAH is formed by the word NAQUSH that means ”CRAVE OUT”. This dish is originated in the Fertile Crescent.

United Arab Emirates – Baklava

Baklava is a pastry dish that is layered with the nuts filled in each layer or the center of each piece. This is more like a Filo pastry. Filo is a pastry of many thin layers. This dish is originated from Ottoman Empire. The word Baklava came from the Mongolian Language, also known as BAGLABA in the Persian language. Meaning of the word Baklava is ”TO TIE UP”, ”WRAP UP”.

United Arab Emirates – Kousa Mahshi

Kousa Mahshi is a dish of the whole Middle East and many other countries. This dish is a rice stuffed zucchini or squash. As a cultural component, it is served as the main dish or snacks at meetings, parties, Ramzan, meetings, before meals, sometimes after meals, etc. Stuffed zucchini (or squash), zucchini (KOUSA in Arabic) is the side dish of the national cuisine of Arabs. This dish has several alternative names.

The United Arab Emirates – Challah

Challah is a bread that is from the Eastern side of the European Origin. The term ”CHALLAH” is meant to be the kind of Bread and Cake. This bread is also known as ”SHABBAT BREAD”. Because on the Jewish festival Shabbat this bread is made and then serve to the Jewish members after prayer. The most traditional way to cook challah is from the plain wheat flour, eggs, salt, yeast, vegetable oil, sugar, and water to knead. There is much bread made up of similar ingredients but having some varieties and differences in shapes.

United Arab Emirates – Lamb Maqluba (Upside Down Lamb Rice Dish)

MAQLUBA literary means ”UPSIDE DOWN”. When this dish is cooked, It is layered in the pot like rice layer, meat layer and vegetables. Name of the dish is also seen in the book, named KITAB AL TABIKH. It is a book of 13th century recipes of UAE. Emirati dishes are very royal dishes because the use of the ingredients are very nutritious and rich.

Iran, United Arab Emirates – Kabab Koobideh

This is one of the best dishes in Iranian Cuisine. Mostly used mincemeat is from lamb and beef. Chicken is rarely used in traditional dishes like this kabob koobideh. This dish is traditionally included in the national cuisine of Iran and also in many other cuisines but with different names. Iranian cuisine is included in the Khaleeji cuisine because this cuisine has a great impact on Arabian and Emirati cuisine. Iranian cuisine is known as āšpazi-e iranī in Persia and, the culinary culture evolved by time and influence by other traditions.
