Italy – Pizza

Each country has its own specialty for making pizza that is why it is so popular. There are more than 3000 variations throughout the whole world. The word Pizza came into light first in the 10th century and it was found in a Latin manuscript in the town Gaeta in Lazio Italy. However this version of Pizza was not the one which we are used to eating nowadays. The modern day pizza was created in Naples in the 18th century.

Italy – Tiramisu

Tiramisu is said to be the best dessert in all of Italy because of its beautiful textures and remarkable taste which sets the tone for the people. It is easy to make at home and more easy to enjoy afterwards. This dish is said to be made first in 1960 in the region of Veneto, a region in the North of Italy and has many cities inside it. Tiramisu is an Italian word which means “pick me up” or “cheer me up”. It is served at the end of the meal and is a way of cheering people up through its taste.

Italy – Arancini

Arancini is an Italian classic dish which is basically rice balls stuffed with ingredients like meat and cheese. Arancini came into existence in the 10th century in the city of Sicily. It is also regarded as the “Sicily’s cuisine”. Arancini is an Italian word whose meaning is “little orange”. It has a small history but it is loved everywhere.

Italy – Lasagne Bolognese With Bechamel Sauce

Lasagna is one of Italy’s finest cuisines ever made. It has a place in the heart of the Italian cuisine. Lasagna was first made in the city of Naples where this dish became popular in no time. The word Lasagna was embraced from the Greek dish “Lasanum” which meant “cooking pot” because it was made in it. As my opinion goes I will always recommend everyone to try it because it is also one of my favorite foods to eat. It may not be the healthiest but it is tasty.

Franch – Omelette

Omelette is a historical breakfast dish which goes way back to date 1700’s . It is basically type of egg which is fried with some butter and oil. Now people must think how small and easy dish like this could have a history but I assure you this dish has a great past. If you ever visit France please try their own version because it is there where this was first made.

Italy – Insalata Caprese (Caprese Salad)

Caprese salad is the Italian word for Insalata Caprese. When translated Insalata Caprese means “Salad Of Capri”. Capri is an island located near the city of Naples. The ingredients in the dish are of the same color as the National flag of Italy: green, white and red. Therefore this dish represents the whole Italy. This salad was first noticed in the year 1920 and then was introduced in the menu of a hotel named Quisisana. There are many variations of Caprese salad all over the world.

Spain – Paela De Marisco

Paela means Frying Pan and De Marisco means Seafood. In the 10th Century the production of rice in Spain was starting to increase more and more and people in that times usually add fish in the rice to make a dish. A Spanish food historian said about this dish that this dish ” symbolizes the union and heritage of two important cultures, the first one Romans which gave us the utensil and the second Arabs which brought the basic food of humanity to all parts of the world. It is considered to be the national dish of Spain.

Italy – Gelato

If you ask an Italian what his/her favorite dessert is they will all say one name only “Gelato”. Gelato is a frozen dessert which is made with the combination of milk, cream and sugar. In Italy it can be easily found everywhere. It is a great family dessert and a great way to finish of the dining. Gelato is an Italian word which literally means “frozen” just like its texture and its flavor. It may look like an normal ice cream but it is not. Gelato originated in Sicily in the 16th century. The first gelato was made by Bernardo Buontalenti who was a native of Florence. Gelato is considered a prize in all of Italy and it is loved to the core.

Switzerland – Cheese Fondue

Cheese Fondue is an Swiss classic dish which is melted cheese inside of an communal pot, or fondue pot. This dish goes way back 5-6 centuries and has a big place in the Swiss history. As a way of increasing cheese consumption the Swiss Union declared this dish as the national dish of Switzerland in 1930. I recommend it to everyone to try it and have it as a side dip for other dishes because its flavor goes with every food palate.

Italy – Osso Bucco With Gremolata

OSSO BUCCO is an Lombardy cuisine which is an region of Italy. It is basically a cut of veal shank which is cooked inside of a Mirepoix (a type of sauce). The meaning of “Osso Bucco” is “Bone With A Hole” which refers to the center of the veal shank which has a “Marrow Hole”. OSSO BUCCO came into existence in the region of Lombardy in the 19th century.
