Syria – Pistachio Tahini Halvah

Halva is a dessert that can be cooked by adding different main ingredients like nuts, fruits, semolina, flour, grains, etc. This dish is very popular in WEST ASIA. In Syria, halwa is cooked usually grains based. This dish is said to be the confectionary food item. It is basically a dessert or sweet dish for confections. Halvah is a dish that originated from Persian cuisine. It is a very old and traditional dish from the 7th century. In the Arabic language, Halwa means SWEET CONFECTION.

Iran, United Arab Emirates – Kabab Koobideh

This is one of the best dishes in Iranian Cuisine. Mostly used mincemeat is from lamb and beef. Chicken is rarely used in traditional dishes like this kabob koobideh. This dish is traditionally included in the national cuisine of Iran and also in many other cuisines but with different names. Iranian cuisine is included in the Khaleeji cuisine because this cuisine has a great impact on Arabian and Emirati cuisine. Iranian cuisine is known as āšpazi-e iranī in Persia and, the culinary culture evolved by time and influence by other traditions.

United Arab Emirates – Om Ali

This is a dessert that originated from Egypt, but popular in the whole UAE. The word OM ALI is derived from the meaning ”MOTHER OF ALI”. This name is given after the wife of Ruler of ”AYYUBID EMPIRE”. MOTHER OF ALI is traced from the Era of Ayyubid Empire. Khumaimaa is the dish that is similar to the OM ALI. It is originated from Iran and Jordan and is a part of its national cuisine.

Iran, Levant – Sogran Dolma (Beef Stuffed Onions)

In this dish, we basically have a stew in which beef stuffed onions are cooked and served with sour cream or yogurt. The concept of this dish is stuffing and wrapping. Sassanid period has the history of Iranian Culinary and cuisines. Dolma is the stuffed vegetable dish. There were many traditional dishes of vegetable stuffing in many Middle Eastern cuisines.

United Arab Emirates – Kofta

Kofta is a member of Meat Balls and have name derived from Persian word, KUFTA. This is shaped especially into balls as a KOFTA but different shapes can be made out of the same batter of meat. Kofta can be made up of even vegetables like cabbage, potato, mixed vegetables, calabash, unripe bananas, etc. There is a huge variation of the same element of the dish and included in many countries’ national cuisine.

This is a dish which is also known as ARABIAN PIZZA. Manakish is an Arabian dish, which is a flattened dough served with Arabian toppings. As the special Arabic dish, this dish is eaten in Dubai, Saudia Arabia, Lebanese, Syria, Egypt, etc. Its place of origin is ”LEVANT”, a large area of Eastern mediterraen. The word Manakish or Manaquish is taken from Arabic word Manqushah that is formed by NAQUSH means to crave out.
