Pakistan – Traditional Dahi Baray With Different Types of Sauces (Creamy Delicious Snack)

Introduction
Dahi baray is a combination of sweet and spicy creamy yogurt and deep fried flour balls with different kind of sauces and spices. This is the most popular snack in Pakistan. This is available anytime on food street in Pakistan. You can have this yummy snack anytime. The spicy, sweet and sour combination is the best. Dahi baray is incomplete with a lot of papri. Papri is a crispy dough wafers. Dahi baray has a lot of flavor and texture like dahi (yogurt) has a creamy texture and sweet flavor, baray has a simple saltish flavor and soft dough texture, green sauce has a mint ans coriander flavor, tamarind sauce has a tangy sour flavor and the most interesting papri has a simple taste and rispy texture, phuliyan has asaltish flavor and soggy texture.
In ramzan roadsides are full with this yummy snack.You can serve this at parties like an appetizer or you can serve this to weddings like a snack.This snack has a lot of elements but has a light and yummy flavor.This take a long time to cook but the results after cooking is upstanding.To prepare this dish you need a lot of elements
- Creamy yogurt
- simple bharay
- soaked phuliyan
- green sauce
- tamarind sauce
- crispy papri
For garnish you can use green chilis, chaat masala, coriander, cumin and black pepper.
Ingredients for making yogurt
- Yogurt 2 cups
- sugar 1 tsp
- chaat masala 1 tsp
- corn flour 1 tbsp
Method of making
Take a large bowl and add all the ingredients and mix well.
Ingredients for making baray
- Wheat flour 2 cups
- plain flour 1 cup
- salt 2 tbsp
- baking soda 1 tsp
- baking powder 1 tbsp
- oil 2 bsp
- Yellow lentils 2 cups (soakes in water)
Method of cooking
Step 1
Take a large bowl and add wheat flour, plain flour,yellow lentils with water and salt mix well until all the things are fully combined.Leave it for 10 minutes.After 10 minutes add baking soda, baking powder, oil and again mix well.Now leave it for 2 hours.
Step 2
Now take a kadai and add 3 cups of oil and take a 3 big spoons of batter and put it in the oil and fry until golden brown.Now place it on a plate.
Ingredients for making green sauce
- Green chili 5 to 6
- green coriander 2 tbsp (chopped)
- mint 2 tbsp (chopped)
- water 1 cup
- salt 1 tsp
Method of making
Take a blender and add green chili, mint, salt and blend it until smooth paste.Now add the paste to the water and mix well until the paste is combined to the water.
Ingredients for tamarind sauce
- Tamarind pulp 1 cup
- red chili 1 tsp
- sugar 1 tsp
- water 2 cup
Method of cooking
Take a pan and add all the ingredients and cook for about 15 to 20 minutes until smooth consistency.After 15 minutes put the sauce in a bowl.
For papri and phuliyan
Take ready made papri and phuliyan.Soak the phuliyan in thw water overnight and then take them out.
For preparation
Take a dish in which you want to serve and the yogurt on the bottom and then place baray according to your dish size, then add phuliyan around the baray, add green sauce on top, add tamarind sauce on top and the last add papri on the top.
