Pakistan – Traditional Makhandi Halwa (Sweet Dessert)

Introduction
No occasion is complete without a bowl of dessert. Makhandi halwa is very famous in Pakistan especially in winters people eat a hot bowl of makhandi halwa in cold nights. Roadsides and food streets are full with this delicious dessert. The aroma of this is mouth watering.This is a dense sweet dessert people enjoy it with the evening tea or as a snack. This is made in desi ghee to give it more flavor. There are many types of halwa:
- gajar ka halwa
- suji ka halwa
- habshi halwa
- aloo ka halwa
- moong dal halwa
- besan ka halwa
- coconut halwa
- dry fruit halwa
- sohan halwa
You can serve this yummy dessert to parties to impress your guests. The main ingredients to make this yummy dessert are semolina, sugar or jaggery, desi ghee, dry fruits etc. This yummy dessert made during eid and ramzan. You can also eat it as a breakfast. The recipe are so simple you can make this in almost 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- semolina 2 cups
- sugar or jaggery 1/2 cup
- desi ghee 1 cup
- almonds 2 tbsp
- pistachios 1 tsp
- walnuts 2 tbsp
- raisins 1 tbsp
- cardamom 3
- milk 1/2 cup
Method of cooking
- Take a fry pan add all the dry fruits and roast them for 10 minutes and keep it aside.
- Now take a deep pot you can also use clay pot and add the ghee, semolina and turn the flame low and keep stiring. after 15 minutes turn of the flame
- Take a bowl and add the milk and cardamom to the bowl and then put the milk in the pot and turn the flame medium and fry until golden brown.
- Place the halwa in the dish and garnish with the dry fruits.
