Ghana – Angwa Muu

Angwa Muu is a Ghanaian traditional dish, simply prepared from rice and oil. It also added with tomato paste to give it a red color for attraction, similar from Jollof rice. The difference is, Angwa Muu is served with either boiled or fried egg(s).

This dish is mainly focused in rural areas, as it uses very simple cooking methods, but the taste will blow your taste buds, once tasted you’ll always look for more. Join me as we prepare this cuisine.

Prepare

  • 1 kg of rice

1 medium packets of tomato paste

  • Oil (don’t use olive oil)
  • Salt
  • Egg(s)

Cooking steps

  • Soak rice with salt for 10 minutes, wash and put into clean vessel.
  • Take cooking pan, add oil and heat it. Put in rice and start fry it for 3 minutes.
  • Add tomato paste and keep mix it for 1 minutes less.
  • Add water and boil for 10 minutes. You may add eggs to boil together with rice if you will prefer boiled ones.
  • If you will like to fry eggs, this is the time. Fry them aside without adding any ingredient from salt.
