Pakistan – Samosa Chat

WHAT IS SAMOSA?
Samosa is fried snack which is crispy outside and stuffed inside with filling usually of potato but it could of any type of stuffing like mutton beef, chicken, vegetables. Samosa is a snack of triangular shape that is made up of plain flour dough that is filled and than shaped into triangular shaped and than fried to make crispy and amazing outer texture with crunchiness and inside is soft and juicy with filling of the choice as vegetarian or meat filling. It is served with the chutney/ sauce like green chili sauce, spicy yogurt, tamarind sauce.
WHAT IS SAMOSA CHAT
When samosa is served by adding all the sauces into the plate and samosa is crushed and salad some sort of Channa masala is added over it with all sauce like yogurt, mint, onions etc and served it with some cold drinks and you can enjoy the amazing snack time with this chaat.
STREET FOOD OF LAHORE
Street food is very famous in the Pakistan especially in Lahore so the Punjabi cuisine as an impact over the people of very region even nation wide people came over the areas just to enjoy the street food of Lahore. There are many varieties of street food from snack to dinner or lunch cuisine to enjoy the taste of real food of Punjab. As a snack like chaat or some varieties to enjoy at tea time has many kinds like:

As the famous chaat, samosa chaat is very well known over the impact of street food. Street food of Lahore is very famous as shown in the picture a huge varieties of snack is prepared and sold out every day.
PUNJABI CUISINE
Punjabi cuisine is the best cuisine known through out the world by their flavors or spices with authentic aromas and traditional cuisine and snack food like this dish of famous origin. The authentic flavors are the main source of the taste and unique recipes that are not known even before the Punjabi cuisine. The use of traditional method of cooking, authentic spices and original flavors are the main thing of the Punjabi cuisine.
HISTORY OF THE DISH
It is seem to be said that samosa is originated from the Central Asia but it came over the Pakistan at the time of the Indian Subcontinent, when some traders visit the Indian subcontinent and from that time the samosa was started making in the Subcontinent as the snack with tea and after the separation it is included in the national cuisine of Pakistan, India and Bangladesh.

INGREDIENTS
FOR DOUGH
- Plain flour : 1 kilogram
- salt : 1 tsp
- Cumin : 2 tbsp
- Baking powder : 1 tsp
- Oil : 6 tbsp
- water for kneading
FOR POTATO FILING :
- Potato : 1/2 kilogram
- salt : 1 tbsp
- red pepper : 1tbsp
- onion chopped : 1
- tomato chopped : 1
- green chilies : chopped 1 tbsp
- cumin powder : 1 tsp
- coriander seeds : 1 tbsp
- green coriander : 3 tbsp
- mint : 3 tbsp
METHOD OF COOKING
FOR DOUGH
To make dough knead all things together into a firm dough slightly tough dough and let it set for 20 minutes.
FOR FILLING
- For filling, take potatoes and boil them for 2o minutes until they get soft enough and peal off them and let them cool.
- Now on other hand mix all the rest of ingredients and spices into mashed potatoes and make an spicy yummy filling and the filling is ready to assemble it with dough to make a beautiful triangular shape.
ASSEMBLING
- For assembling take a small ball of the dough and roll it over the pin wheel to make a flat round spread of dough.
- Now add small quantity of the spicy filling into the mid of the flat dough.
- Now take three sides of the dough and stick them together to make a three sided triangular shape.
- Now make the whole batch of the samosa and fry them.
- You can serve this samosa as the samosa chat by adding the sauces over it or can consume separately as a snack.
