Rwanda – Spinach with Peanut Butter

Rwanda is an African country found on the eastern part of the continent, bordering Tanzania to it’s west.
Many small farmers do cultivate fruits and vegetable for daily meals and sells. It is easy to work around the markets in Rwanda and found spinach all along each vegetable sales man table. In city like Kigali, modern ways of vegetable farming are well implemented to ensure the productivity is kept constant.
Spinach with peanut butter will fill your day with a smile just about it’s taste and nutritious advantages. I warmly welcome you as we are going to prepare this cuisine.
Preparation and Cooking Procedures
When you are about to start cooking spinach (often any meal), prepare the ingredients to be used, as follows;
- A bunch of spinach
- 1 onion
- 1 green pepper
- 1 carrot
- 1 tomato
Peanut butter
- Chop onion, carrot and green pepper into small box like shaped pieces.
Wash to clean dust from spinach, cut into tiny parts as seen in image.
- Start to fry onions and green pepper for 2 minutes, add spinach and salt, mix them well and close up the pan, boil for 3 minutes.
- Open pan and add in carrots together with 3 tea spoons of peanut butter, stir well and close the pan again to boil for 3-5 minutes more.
- Taste for salt, add some soup if boiling evaporates so much of it. Boil again for 3 minutes less.
After that time our cuisine will be ready and can be eaten with any other foods, including Banana, Potatoes, rice, bites.
