Nepal – Litti Chokha

Littis Chokha is a dough ball that is filled with sattu and gram flour. Littis is the dough balls and chokha is actually the stuff which is made with different kinds of varieties like Eggplant, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, etc. Chokha is made with all vegetables mixed. This is actually very healthy food. We can also call it a STREET FOOD of Nepal. Pickle play a very important role in this dish because many people want to eat this dish along with pickles, most people use pickles as a filling in Littis.
There are different kind of pickles you can use as a filling. Most people use mango pickle along with their dish and as filling also.
If you think that how to make littis chokha then you have to know that it is actually not easy as you think because it takes more steps to make. You can not make it in a single step, more steps take more time. The first thing that you have to consider is to have “SATTU” because Littis chokha is made with Sattu. This is the traditional way of baking littis, and littis is prepared in a very different way. You can cook salad on the floor with the oven. If you have an open charcoal roast, you can replace the beans with it. You can even grind or make. You can actually make this with different methods and it is up to you that how you want it to make and easy for you.

These steps are actually up to you that which type of method is more convenient for you.
If you do not like fry things that you can choose the baking method or grilling method because it does not consume more oil in their method, but if you are an oil lover or you want a more healthy dish that you can deep fry it because deep-frying take more time but present you as a crispy dish which is more likable. The grilling method is also very famous if you want smoked grilled then it is tastier but some people do not like the aroma of coal and do not prefer that food also.
You can also use Channa powder instead of sattu but you have to take it seriously that sattu is more important for this dish but if you don’t like sattu then you can take channa instead.

INGREDIENTS
Dough
- Flour
- salt
- oil
- water
- butter
Filling
- Sattu

- tomatoes

- coriander
- cumin seeds
- chili
- salt
- water
- oil
METHOD
In this dish you have to prepare dough first.
So for this take a bowl and add sattu in it .
When you add flour in it then also add salt and oil in it so it must be good at kneading and helpful also.
Now knead it by adding water.
Now for preparing littis, you have to take gram flour and all other spices.
These are the steps of adding spices.
Now make smalls balls of dough and fill them with stuff like following steps.
No fry them in the oil and you have a final look is like this
