Japan – Sashimi

Sashimi is a Japanese cuisine dish. It is a very simple but popular dish, this is not the main course but loved by every Japanese people to enjoy it as wholemeal or the main course. Cooking is not even included in making this dish and served with the most famous MISO SOUP, or as a good bowl of rice. SASHIMI means pierced meat. Like Sashi means ”pierced” and mi means ”meat”.

Japan – Nigirimeshi

This is the traditional rice dish of Japan which is simply known as rice balls. This dish has many other names according to the filling. There are different ingredients used in making this simple but with a lot of varieties in this dish. From Kamakura to the Edo period this dish is invented. Sumurai stored these rice balls into bamboo sheath and use them at the time of war.

Japan – Korokke

This dish is a Japanese deep-fried version of YOSHOKU. This is a type of CROQUETTE, which is actually a deep-fried or shallow-fried kind of cutlets. This dish is made as a snack, like a dinner and then it is usually cooked at the festivals like Japanese new year. Different kinds of korokke is cooked and sold in Japan.

Japan – Zosui / Japanese Rice Soup

Zosui is a very healthy and full nutritious soup dish with all the healthy elements to add its benefits to the dish. It is a Japanese version of Congee. Congee is actually a rice porridge dish, very famous in China. This dish is very healthy and easy to digest so it is also served as a staple food for patients and healthcare workers. This is also known to be as Baby food. When nabemono is cooked, the leftover soup can be also used as the Zosui. There are different variant of using instead of rice.

Japan – Natto

Natto is a kind of snack or breakfast that is made up of fermented soybean. This is famous because of its texture and appearance. As a healthy breakfast it is eaten with a bowl of rice. The main thing to watch is the procedure of fermenting these beans so we can consume with different varieties of rice, toast and mixing with vegetables, etc.
